타우랑가 근처 골프장 10곳 비교: 그린피·1년 회원권·예약, 그리고 주위 가볼 만한 곳

There are ten 18-hole golf clubs within about an hour and a half's drive of Tauranga. The 18-hole fee for non-members is $70–100 at nine of them (Rotorua charges international visitors $110), and the full adult annual subscription is between $1,200 and $1,650 at eight. This post sorts the ten by distance and covers green fees, annual subscriptions, how to book, and places worth a stop after your round.

I compare them only by the numbers on the official price lists. For the five I have played, I add a short note from my own records and say when I was there.

At a glance: fees and distance for all ten

Prices are in New Zealand dollars, as shown on each club's official price list in October 2026. Each official name is the short name plus "Golf Club" (only Ōhope is Ōhope Beach Golf Links). Drive times come from a route planner, so they change with traffic; only Omokoroa's is the club's own figure. Subscriptions leave out the one-off payment when you join, and age bands differ by club.

Three close to town: Tauranga, Omanu and Mt Maunganui

Tauranga Golf Club is an 18-hole course inside the racecourse reserve. Its green fees are from a price list effective February 2025, and the course has had a closure for renovations. Check the notice on the front page of the official site before you go.

Omanu is in Mt Maunganui and takes visitors seven days a week. When I played there with my family in November 2021, the electric carts were already booked out, so we pushed a manual trolley by hand.

Mt Maunganui is a tree-lined 18 holes laid out as three loops of six, so you play 6, 12 or 18. Its fee is the highest of the ten and goes up again in December and January. In September 2022 I went meaning to play nine, but getting back to the clubhouse meant playing three more, so we played 12.

Nearby: McLaren Falls Park is about 22 minutes by car from Tauranga Golf Club. It has bush walks and a waterfall, and glow-worms show after dark. The Historic Village in town is free to enter. The Mauao base track and Mount Hot Pools were listed as closed in the official notices in October 2026. Check whether they have reopened before you go.

15–40 minutes away: Te Puke, Omokoroa and Katikati

Te Puke is not in the town itself but beside the highway towards Paengaroa. It is a par-72 parkland course, 6,130 m from the Blue tees. When I went in October 2021, the greens had just been renovated, so we got a discount and paid 50 dollars at the time for two adults, a child and a cart. On a weekday afternoon in May 2022 there was almost no group behind us.

Omokoroa is an easy-walking 18 holes on the edge of Tauranga Harbour. The visitor fee is $75 whether or not you belong to another club.

Fairview Golf Club in Katikati sits beside State Highway 2, below the Kaimai Range. When I went for a morning nine in December 2021, the round trip from home took about two hours, and the clubhouse food was good.

Nearby: Ōmokoroa Domain beach, at the tip of the peninsula, is about 3 km from the club, with calm water and a playground. Katikati has more than 60 murals and sculptures, and the Haiku Pathway, with haiku carved into river boulders, is about 7 km from Fairview.

Rotorua: two clubs about an hour away

Rotorua Golf Club now goes by Arikikapakapa on its website. It dates from 1906 and is a par-70 course (5,799 m from the Blue tees) with boiling mud pools and steam vents on the course. The price list has a separate International line at $110, and that is the one travellers should read.

Springfield is an 18-hole course founded in 1947. Its non-member fee is split: $80 for overseas residents and $75 for New Zealand residents. The two clubs are about four minutes apart by car.

Nearby: the redwoods of Whakarewarewa Forest are about 4 km from Rotorua Golf Club, and walking there is free. Kuirau Park, about 4 km from Springfield, is a free geothermal park with free foot baths.

Whakatāne and Ōhope: an hour to an hour and a half

Whakatane is a par-70 course designed in 1932. It is a little over 6,000 m from the back tees and looks out to Moutohorā (Whale Island) from close to the sea.

Ōhope's full name is Ōhope Beach Golf Links. It is a links course on a narrow strip of land between the Pacific and Ōhiwa Harbour, and booking is essential. When I went on a Sunday in December 2021, tee times were wide open, and at the time it was 30 dollars for an adult and 20 dollars for a child for 18 holes for Omanu members, plus 40 dollars for a cart. In May 2022 we made it a day trip: my older child played golf and the younger one went fishing.

Nearby: Ōhope Beach is 11 km of white sand. Ōhope Wharf, where fishing boats leave from, is about 2 km from the links. In Whakatāne you can walk the Ngā Tapuwae o Toi trail, which links pā sites and coastal cliffs.

Looking at it as a one-year membership

In New Zealand, most people buy a one-year membership and play on that. It is very cheap. Whakatane's subscription of $1,210 equals about 16 rounds at the $75 non-member fee.

The one-off payment when you join comes on top. At Omanu the subscription is $1,229, but the first year costs $2,104.

If you are staying a short time, there are short-term memberships too: Omanu four months $775, Rotorua four months $500, Whakatane four months $600 or six months $675, Fairview summer (November–March) $675.

The month the membership year starts also differs by club (February, April, September or October). Springfield's subscription list is dated December 2024, so ask the club for the current figure.

Once you are a full member of one club, you can play the others at a discounted rate called the BOP Passport. At the nine clubs that list a price, it is $45–85 for 18 holes. Which clubs and which days it covers varies (not Saturdays at Ōhope Beach and Mt Maunganui, and Springfield's price list names only three clubs).

Booking as a visitor

At most clubs you book through the "Book a round" button on the club's website. Te Puke and Springfield send you to Golf NZ's tee booking, and Fairview takes bookings by phone at the golf shop or through DotGolf.

In my experience there are many days when non-members cannot book, so I usually play as a member. Mt Maunganui states in its official information that visitors cannot play at certain times during members-only club days and corporate events. At the other clubs, look at the booking screen to see what is free on each date.

If you book alone or as a pair, other people can book the remaining places in that slot. A cart is $50–55 for 18 holes at the eight clubs where I could confirm a price. Te Puke and Ōhope Beach ask you to book one in advance.

On the phone, you can ask it like this.

• "Hi, do you have any tee times for two visitors this Saturday?"
• "Are there any members-only times or club days this week?"

Prices and opening arrangements change often. Check the club's official price list once more before you go.
